About JSModels
I've been building models of one kind or another for as long as I can remember, starting with a Hornby trainset as a young child, and inspired by my late father who was a railway modeller most of his life. This lead on to 'proper' model railways in my early to mid teens, though like most my interest wained in my later teens & early twenties. Through the years since I have dabbled in various other modelling areas, such as military dioramas, sci-fi models & prop-making, and radio-controlled helicopters, but I came back to railway modelling in 2014.
In 2018 I began building a small OO gauge 'shunting puzzle' layout. Living in West Yorkshire and inspired by the large, imposing mills in this area, I set about trying to find models that captured the scale of such structures. Unfortunately none were available, so I began designing my own. In 2019 after experimenting with 3D printing (which proved to be prohibitively expensive for the size of models I desired) I progressed to laser-cutting instead. After designing, cutting, and assembling my first building, I was soon asked by other modellers if they could purchase a version of it. Thus my first kit, and JSModels, was born in 2020.

Building & Painting
All the models available to order via this website are supplied as unpainted kits. All kits include full colour, detailed assembly instructions.
I do not offer a building & painting service, but if you require this please contact me & I can recommend one of several professional modelmakers who will build & paint my kits.
Delivery Times
JSModels is operated part-time; I have another job which I do 2 days a week, and as such I cannot guarantee same-day despatch. I will endeavour to get items sent out as soon as I can - most items are despatched within 24 hours - but on occasion it might take a couple of days so I would ask that you be patient. If you need something urgently, please
e-mail me
& I'll see what I can do.
Delivery Charges
Delivery charges are calculated based on the size and weight of your order, and are sent via Royal Mail. UK deliveries can be sent via Tracked 24, or Tracked 48.
International orders are usually sent via Royal Mail's 'Tracked' or 'Tracked & Signed' service, depending on the destination country (not all options are available to all destinations).
Delivery charges will be calculated automatically at checkout.
Note that packages over 2kg cannot be sent to some destinations; if on checking out you get a message saying 'Sorry we do not ship to your location', this usually means your order is heavier than the maximum for your country. If this is the case, please
contact me
to arrange shipment via a different method. There is currently no facility to process these via the website, so larger export orders will be processed manually & an invoice e-mailed to you.
Stock Levels
I do try to keep stock levels fairly low, whilst still maintaining availability; the website will not allow you to order items which are not in stock (except cut-to-order items) so rest assured that if you've been able to order something, it is in stock. If there's something showing as out-of-stock, please e-mail me, or check back in a few days (although chances are I'll already be working on replacing the stock!)
Commissions
If you have a requirement for a building and you can't find anything suitable, why not commission a bespoke building kit? Alternatively, if you like one of my existing buildings but need it adapting to suit a particular situation, I can do that too! Just
contact me
with your enquiry, or see the '
Customised Kits' page for more details.
